The Montana Gravel Challenge returns again for 2024!

We are proud to host the three-day, three-stage event, with mass starts and categories for all ages and abilities.

 

MGC Schedule

Thursday Packet Pick Up: 

3:00-6:00 pm
@MTCX HQ, 517 S Orange St 59802

Friday, TT Schedule:
  • 2:00 On-site Registration/Packet Pick Up Begins.
  • 3:30 First Rider Off
  • 6:30 Last Rider Off (can't make it by 6:30?, let us know)
Saturday, Southside/Petty Rd Schedule:
  • 8:30 On-site Registration/Packet Pick Up, plus Coffee & Treats
  • 9:30 First Wave (Competitive) Start
  • 9:40 Second Wave (Recreation/Juniors/Paracyclist) Start
  • ~3:00 Day 2 Podium 
Sunday, Rocky Mountain Roubaix Schedule: 
  • 8:30 On-site Registration/Packet Pick Up, plus Coffee & Treats
  • 9:30 First Wave (Competitive) Start

All courses will be fully marked with turns and mileage signs.

 

MGC 2024 - Stage 1: Time Trial - Friday  -   and back 9 mile TT - ~11 miles - 756 feet of climbing - MAP LINK. (2023 start is at Bjorns and is a rolling start. Finish is 1 mile from the finish before descending down the hill - this is for safety)

 

MGC 2024 - Stage 2: Southside/Petty Road - Saturday -  - Southside Road - 61 miles - 3,000 feet of climbing - MAP LINK

 

MGC 2024 - Stage 3: Rocky Mountain Roubaix - Sunday -  - Roubaix Circuit 4 laps - 41.7 miles - 1711 feet of climbing - MAP LINK

 

 

 

Awards and Scoring

The name of of the game is finish all three stages. All finishers of all three stages get an official Montana Gravel Challenge Hat. All starts will be considered for top 3 within categories.  There will be one stocked aid station per stage with water and nutrition.

Stage 1 - TT
  • Due to the drawn out time frame and nature of the TT, we will not have podiums We will have results posted Friday Evening. 
Stage 2 - Southside/Petty
  • Overall Female and Male 1,2,3
  • Age Groups 12-14, 15-16, 17-18, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+, Paracyclist
Stage 3 - Rocky Mountain Roubaix Circuit
  • Overall Female and Male 1,2,3
    Age Groups 12-14, 15-16, 17-18, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+, Paracyclist

Where to Stay

 If you’re looking for an indoor place to stay, the City Center Motel, the perfect place for cyclists 1. because of the fabulous accommodations and 2. along with the fact that you’ll likely see Keyvin at our races– he’s a wealth of knowledge about local roads and trails. City Center Motel is right in Downtown Missoula, where you’ll want to be when you’re not on your bike or in the mountains.

Not only is Bjorn, owner of Big Sky Brewery, hosting us on his property for the ride venue,  onsite camping and trailer camping is also allowed. Please signup during registration. There will be portapotties and some running potable water but no RV hookups.
